I can't seem for the life of me to keep up, but this blog is for me and my family, so I am not going to worry about "living up" to any ones expectations of it! Everything is done in preparation for Christmas so I can relax for the next four days. Isaac's parents get here on Christmas eve, and we are having some friends over as well. My tree is up, cookies are baked, grocery shopping done, and presents are wrapped. I love this time of year! The twins are so much fun this year. They can definitely understand more and participate a little, although our Christmas cookies looked a little wacky since I had the help of two little bakers. I was talking to Evalyn tonight about Baby Jesus and trying to explain the Christmas story, and she had the most confused look on her face. She couldn't understand why Mary would have her baby in a barn and put Baby Jesus down where the animals ate their dinner. Maybe next year she will have a little more understanding, but this year, she is very concerned about baby Jesus being cold and does not want the animals to eat him! She is cute!
Judah hit 5 months on the 8th. He is getting so big! I am amazed at how fast the time goes, no matter how much I try to hold on to it. I will have him on my lap and try to make him laugh, and he will give me a little smile. As soon as the twins come and talk to him, he cracks up like he has just heard the most fabulous joke. They don't even have to be talking to him for him to start giggling. I hope they always love each other this way.
Gavin has been eying the presents under the tree for the last few weeks and it is torture for him to wait until Christmas. He did take a little sneak preview of the gifts the morning after I had just spent 3 hours wrapping everything, but luckily just opened Evalyn's gifts. I think he was disappointed with all the princess stuff! He was very upset when he got in trouble for it, so I think he is content with waiting another 4 days to find out what is under there!
We did get our family pics done again this year. We skipped last year, but I wanted a new one since our family has expanded with Judah joining us. Before we left for the portrait studio, I sat the kids down under the tree and asked if they would smile for one second. They complied and, after a few tries, I got my Christmas card picture. Judah looks less than thrilled, but oh well!
