Not Me Monday

This is my first "Not Me Monday" post! For more details and official "Not Me Monday" rules, check out MckMama's blog: www.mycharmingkids.net

I did not spend two hours at nap time going through MckMama's blog to find out what the names of the other three Mck kids were. I did not feel like a sleuthing genius when I found them and I did not immediately fall in love with Big Mac's name and then did not contemplate calling the courthouse and asking them if it was too late to change Judah's name on his birth certificate. Nope, not me!

I did not eat cereal for breakfast, lunch and dinner one day last week and I am not addicted to Kashi.

I do not have kid's that 1.licked the bottom of the tub, 2.ate popcorn off of the pavement, 3.ate a lollipop that had been wrapped in tissues, 4.dipped their peaches in ketchup. That would be disgusting and I do not have gross children.

I did not tell my son that his veggies were special train food that conductors eat so that he would them. That would be bribery and I do not bribe my kids. Nope, not me!!!!

Catching Up.....

So I guess I am not as good at this blog thing as I thought I would be. Any time I have a spare minute, there is laundry to be done, beds to be made, dinner to be made, noses to be wiped (I think you get the picture). Sometimes the craziness of my life is overwhelming, but I keep reminding myself that this is just a stage of life, it will be gone before I know it, and I will wish myself back to this place of beautiful chaos.

We have traveled to Mack's Apple Farm almost every weekend, picking apples for the week, getting cider and doughnuts, and feeding the ducks. A few weeks ago, Aunt Danika and Uncle Scott came for the weekend and we took them to our favorite spot. Gavin is quite the apple fanatic, and he probably eats at least 3 apples while everyone is busy picking them. We had such an amazing time with Scott and Danika, and even stayed up till almost 1am playing Whist (we may have lost this time, but revenge is sweet).

This stage of life with the twins is very challenging. All of a sudden, they have an opinion on EVERYTHING! What they wear, what they eat, what they want to do that day. Gone are my awesome little eaters that would at least try whatever I put in front of them. For awhile, I would make them something else so they wouldn't go to bed hungry. That lasted for about a week! I decided that I am not a short order cook and if they are truly hungry ,they will eat what I make. If not, they will just be extra hungry for breakfast. This means that there have been quite a few nights of wailing and tears, but hopefully it will pass and they will learn to like a variety of foods. I also find getting them dressed in the morning a challenge. Gavin is pretty easy. Like a typical boy, he doesn't care what he wears, although he would prefer to be in his pajamas all day (I don't blame him). He has been really into hats lately. He got a hard hat and his own set of tools for his birthday, so he can usually be found walking around the house looking for something to "fix." Whenever Isaac has to fix anything around the house, Gavin rushes off to get his tools so he can "help daddy."

Evalyn on the other hand, would love to dress up in some kind of costume or dress every day. She loves dresses, crowns, and all things "princess." I have to admit, I love having a girly girl! With two boys, I know there will be plenty of mud and rocks and puddles. Evalyn, with her love of all things girl, brings such a joy to my heart. I have no idea how she can even walk in those plastic high heels, but it is so darn cute! She can keep up with her brother, make no mistake, but does it with a girl twist (like having a Barbie fishing pole!). This is what she looks like on a daily basis!

The last few months have FLOWN by, and my brilliant baby is dazzling us with his smiles and giggles. How I love this age! I find myself holding him whenever I can, breathing in his sweet baby smell, and just enjoying him. These baby moments fly by so quickly, and then they are three years old wriggling out of your arms to some other new adventure. Judah is such a good natured baby, and his little dimples make me melt! How can you resist that sweet baby face? I am constantly reminded of God's love for me when I look into the eyes of my children. It is hard to imagine that it is just a glimpse of his love for us!
